PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang is the most qualified leader to be appointed the sixth Prime Minister compared to others if there is a power shift on Sept 16.
PAS central committee member Nik Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah who is also Kelantan PAS deputy commissioner said this was just a suggestion of party members who, like Umno members in Barisan Nasional (BN), surely wanted their president to become Prime Minister.
“But to us, PAS will accept whatever decisions by the top leadership in determining who becomes Prime Minister; to us, surely we want PAS president,” he told reporters after launching the Kelantan-level “Hudud Day Celebrations” here Wednesday.
Nik Amar said the decision to elect the country’s top leadership would be in the hands of the Presidential Council comprising the presidents of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), DAP and PAS. It was them who would pick the person to hold the highest seat, he said.
He said PAS members surely wanted Hadi to become Prime Minister while PKR wanted its advisor, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to hold the post.
Anwar has said that a change will happen in the government on Sept 16 when Pakatan Rakyat takes over the national leadership from BN.
