A week after the nomination – Barisan Nasional in general and Umno in particular had thrown everything they have to ensure Anwar will not be back in Parliament on August 26 and walk into Putrajaya comes September 16.
The fear among Umno members is both real and emotional. Take for example this piece by Jheroceline Tan here:
” By the time he finished speaking, he was choked with emotion and soon, the women were also crying. Alwi, who is the Kelantan Umno information chief, is not the crying sort, so what was it that had brought tears to the eyes of Alwi and the ladies?
Apparently, he had been telling his audience of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s life history, his student leader days and Abim years, how he joined Umno and rose like a shooting star and his fall from grace.
The tears came when he spoke about what would happen to Umno if Anwar came to power. That was when the Umno man in him grew emotional.”
On Using Olympic medallist
Although BN leaders says Chong Wei is not manipulated. Some of their own dare enough to tell the truth. Here is what Kathiseran of NSTsays;
“The Olympic silver medalist was supposed to arrive at the Bayan Lepas International Airport by a Malaysia Airlines flight at 4.30pm yesterday. In fact a reception had been arranged by the state government.
Lee’s brother was also waiting at the airport. But, they waited in vain. Later, they found out that Lee had been flown in a private jet (apparently belong to Defense Ministry), accompanied by Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob, to the royal malaysian air force base in Butterworth. From there he was taken to a hotel in Sungai Petani.
Later, he was taken to his hometown, Berapit, where he was given a rousing welcome. At night, he was brought to Seberang Jaya and honoured for winning a silver in the Beijing Olympics. Najib presented him a cheque for RM300,000.
The presence of badminton hero Lee with Arif Shah, the BN strategists hope, will improve his chances of taking the seat; or at least reducing Anwar’s majority. Again, the silent appeal is to the Chinese community and sports lovers.
Lee would now know just how a shuttlecock feels. As the campaign battle heats up, anything and everything will become fodder. And the gloves will come off completely.
We don’t know the exact amount of monies being thrown to Permatang Pauh by Barisan Nasional. Our last count for the none Muslim voters alone already at staggering RM1.3 million. Last Friday, Najib gave another RM1.4 million to the Malays.
These are the report figures. What about those RM50 rumors to be distributed for information on Anwar. BN admit giving monies but – said it was to BN party workers! Hahaha – can you believe that?.
Kinda fed up with all these so do mee stuff but, Saifool swearing video being played over and over again non-stop since campaigning start by Khairy and the geng at Permatang Pauh. Then said out loud denying they are using this “Saifool” to fish for vote.
Fuel prices drop
As expected, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi denied allegations that the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel announced by the government Friday was linked to the Permatang Pauh by-election.
“It has nothing to do with it. It is for all the people of Malaysia not just for Permatang Pauh. Each time I meet reporters I keep getting asked when the prices will be reduced, now I have done it. And now still more questions. The reduction in petrol prices is the best deal,” he told reporters after opening the kenaf collection, processing, packaging and distribution centre in Beris Lalang here.
Well – why don’t you reverse the decision to September 1 as you had said before. Don’t worry we won’t complaint – after all we have been used to your flip flop decision.
