DAP Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timur Lim Kit Siang irked Barisan Nasional Back Benchers Club (BNBBC) chairman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing on Tuesday when he said public funds were used for the visit of the 49 BNBBC members to Taiwan last month.

Tiong challenged Lim, who was debating the 2009 Supplementary Supply Bill, to repeat the allegation outside the Dewan Rakyat.

Tiong (BN-Bintulu) said the trip was fruitful “otherwise why would Pakatan Rakyat come looking for us in Taiwan”.

Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh (BN-Putatan), who was in the group that visited Taiwan, said that contrary to Lim’s allegation, the trip was fruitful as they participated in several programmes.

“We did not use public funds. Do not raise something which is not true,” he said.

The Dewan Rakyat sits again tomorrow.
