Bintulu RM4.8 million new bus terminal located at Parkcity will be the best of its kind in the state when it is completed in February 2009.
Speaking to reporters, Bintulu Development Authority(BDA) deputy chairman Dato Sri Celestine Ujang said the new bus terminal, which started construction works in Nov last year, was now about 65 per cent completed.
He said the two-storey complex would house the bus terminal, management office, five ticketing booths and 11 unit lock-up shops on the ground floor.
The 15-stall food court and a common area will be housed on the top floor. There will be 15 parking spaces for buses , and five public telephones while the surroundings areas would be beautifully landscaped when the complex is fully completed.
Ujang yesterday visited the site at Parkcity Commercial Square. Accompanying him were BDA general manager Mohidin Ishak, senior manager(environment section) Wan Ibrahim Wan Ali and Bintulu MP Tiong King Sing’s personal secretary Teo Ho Ping.
BDA assistant manager (Technical section) Liang Yew Chi and project supervisor David Baling were on hand to brief them on the progress of the work. The old terminal is at the congested town centre. — BP
