The Bayan Baru Umno Youth division has lodged a police report against Penang Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy over his alleged remarks that Malays dominated the state civil service.

Division Youth chief Norman Zahalan said the statement had racial undertones and could spark racial misunderstandings.

Speaking to reporters after lodging a report at the Bayan Lepas police station here on Sunday, he urged Ramasamy to retract the statement and apologise to those involved.

Ramasamy on Thursday urged the state government to ensure fair representation of all races in the state civil service as it had been dominated by a certain race.

He blamed this on a policy adopted by the previous state government. — Bernama
