The Sibu Rice Wholesalers’ Association alleges that the 15% Super Tempatan rice in Sibu was running low and would not available in the market soon if the authority didn’t act quickly to resolve the problem.

“Only ‘beras wangi’ or fragrant rice and glutinous rice are still available” reported Borneo Post.

The association admitted they were unsure of what caused the shortage and instead warned that if supply didn’t arrive early next month the situation would get worst.

They suggest the authorities to divert excess stock in Kuching and Bintulu to Sibu to remedy the situation.

A random survey in Sibu by local a local daily found there 15% Super Tempatan rice still being sold at various supermarkets and groceries stores.
