Tokuyama Corporation of Japan Director Kazuhisa Kogo (picture second right) and his officer on Friday visited site of it first manufacturing plant in Southeast Asia on at Simalajau Industrial Park about 50km northeast of Bintulu.

Accompanying them during their visit to the 200 hectare site were Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Mohidin Ishak and assistant general manager Lian Yew Chi.

On Nov 28, the Tokuyama Corporation announced an investment estimated to be worth RM1.9bil in Bintulu, Sarawak to set up polycrystalline silicon manufacturing.

The plant is expected to start its operation in 2012 and will create at least 300 direct job opportunities to the locals.
