Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) president Tan Sri Dr George Chan yesterday decided that its central working committee (CWC) will ask for feuding groups in the party’s Bintangor branch to hold an election according to the party’s constitution.
“We hope to get the (branch) leaders to work together so that there will be no factions for the sake of party unity. They know that the party need to re-group and we must strengthen ourselves,” he quoted as saying reported Borneo Post.
Last month, SUPP Bintangor Branch held its election that saw formation of two sets of committee headed by Tan Sri Law Hieng Ding on the one side Datuk Ting Check Sii on the other.
Dr Chan yesterday said the controversy set off by the formation of the two committees by the feuding factions could be solved for as long as the branch election was carried out according to the party’s constitution.
