The Fifth Stella Artois Remote Control Powerboat competition 2008 organized by Bintulu Radio Control Boat Club at Kidurong Height, Bintulu ended yesterday.
About 50 racers from Miri, Sibu, Bintangor, Kapit and as far as neighboring country Brunei Darussalam came to participate in the annual event.
Category A – Tunnel Hull gas engine above 43cc type was won by Kepli Bulu of Kapit. Bintulu racers Hu Kee Hing and Francis Ngu Heng Tah only manage to come second and third position respectively behind Kepli.
In category B Tunnel hull gas engine 43cc and below, first place went to Peter Ling from Sibu followed by Hazwan Abdul Rahman from Brunei and Yii Toh Yung from Sibu.
Peter Ling again came first in category C Tunnel hull gas engine 35cc and below local modified, followed by Ling Ning Loong from Bintulu in second place and Francis Ngu Heng Tah, third.
Sadeni from Miri was first in category D – Mono hull gas engine 43cc and below. Second place was Shamsul Md Yusuf from Brunei while Zik Affendi from Sibu came in third.
In category E – Import gas engine open hull, the winner was Zik Affendi from Sibu followed by Wong Teck Chung and Shamsul Md Yusuf respectively, both from Bintulu.
Meanwhile the winners in consolation race final category, with prizes sponsored by Bintulu Remote Control Boat Club chairman Francis Ngu Heng Tah, went to Jose Edmund, Mohd Ali and Andrew Ling who all hailed from Sibu.
Champions of category A, B and C received cash prize of RM400 and a plaque while second and third placing brought home RM200 and RM1OO respectively, with a plaque each.
The competition was fully funded by a local businessman Goh Tai Seng. On hand to present I the prizes to the winners was Goh’s representative Wong How Chung.
