A group of pirates from Somalia hijacked, taking the crews as hostages, an Indonesian-flagged tugboat and a Turkey-flagged cargo ship under contract to French oil company Total in the sea of Yemen on Tuesday.
The pirates hijacked the tugboat as it was heading for Malaysia, said Andrew Mwangura, Seafarers Aid Program Coordinator from Kenya, kompas.com has reported.
A Total spokesperson confirmed the hijacking, saying most of the hostages were Indonesians. The pirates have asked for a ransom in the millions of dollars for their release. The Jakarta Post.
