The woman whose photograph and identity were used in a blog containing insults to Prophet Muhammad has denied owning the internet domain, Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said Saturday.

The minister said the woman in her 20s met him two weeks ago to ask RTM to help clean her name.

“She sought help from RTM to spread the matter because the weblog which also contains Deepavali messages insulting the Hindus, was not hers and has tarnished her reputation and the company she works for.

“I have told RTM to broadcast the story to remind the public who received greeting cards from the weblog to be careful and lodge a police report,” he told reporters at the launch of “Nur Sejahtera” at the Kemaman parliamentary constituency-level here.

He said the woman who is an accountant with an automative giant in the Klang Valley admitted that she did not know the motive of people behind the weblog.

“She came to know the weblog existed several months ago and has lodged reports with the police and the multimedia commission to trace the people responsible,” he said.

He said the relevant authorities should carry out the investigation quickly to avoid any untoward incident and restore the woman’s reputation.

Shabery said he was told that the weblog server was based outside the country and this made it difficult for the Communications and Multimedia Comission to trace the culprit.

He was sure that the weblog was deliberately created by people with malicious intent against the woman and her employer.

The woman was innocent and had been victimised, and she was mentally and physically under stress, he said and adding that if she had a negative perception of Islam, how come there were also insults to other religions on the same weblog.
