Various news reports suggested that Israel is readying its ground forces for possible invasion. Haaretz reports:
Israel Air Force warplanes killed 10 Palestinians on Tuesday morning in attacks that targeted Hamas government buildings and other symbols of the Islamist group, Palestinian witnesses said.
Israeli missiles flattened five ministerial buildings and a structure belonging to the Islamic University in Gaza City, witnesses said. Several people were also wounded in the attacks.
One Israeli attack targeted a house in the Jabaliya refugee camp, killing seven people, but the Hamas activist was not there, Hamas security and relatives said. Another hit the Jabaliya home of Abdel-Karim Jaber, a Hamas political figure who is a senior administrator at Gaza’s Islamic University.
Israel’s airstrikes on more than 325 sites since midday Saturday reduced dozens of buildings to rubble, overwhelmed hospitals with wounded and filled Gaza’s deserted streets with smoke and fire. The IDF said Israeli naval vessels had also bombarded targets from the sea.
From Jerusalem Post:
The day after three Israelis lost their lives in rocket and mortar shell attacks in the South, at least 10 people were killed and 40 others were wounded when IAF planes bombed a series of targets in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday morning, according to Palestinian reports.
The IDF confirmed air strikes against dozens of targets in the central Gaza town of El-Bureij, near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza and in Gaza City, to the north of the Strip.
Hamas’s Interior Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Treasury, and Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh’s offices were amongst the targets, as well as Gaza police stations.
Also struck were facilities of Hamas’s armed wing, Izzadin Kassam, and houses belonging to operatives of the group, including that of its Gaza Division commander.
