Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed disappointment with the selection of Wan Ahmad Farid as the Barisan Nasional candidate in the Kuala Terengganu by-election.

When asked who will likely to win Mahathir said “well it makes no different whoever wins. It not a major price.”

“Of course the candidate for Umno was the prime minister particular choice, because he has been working with the prime minister. If he has some more children there and that he can put them there also. It’s a family business.”

To another question that if Wan Ahmad Farid was Najib choice the former premier simply said: “Yeah they are trying to project it as Najib tastes, but who chose this candidate.. that’s more important”.

Dr Mahathir said the the opposition has the upper hand in this by-election and predict it would be an even fight.

But he apparently has some reservation about the choice Wan Ahmad Farid as the candidate.

“… the choice by this BN is really very bad because everybody sees him just as a proxy. Someone to be use later on if Najib becomes PM. Then these are people who will be surrounding Najib,” he lamented.
