Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) has agreed to fence up the wet market Pasar Utama to minimize problems of theft, loitering, and vandalism which have been a major complaint among hawkers in the area.
BDA general manager Mohidin Ishak said they have awarded RM238,588 contract to Wahon Glass & Aluminium Sdn. Bhd to fence up the area. The project which already started since Jan 2, expected to be fully completed in three months time.
“Initially we’re proposing to use the service of security services, but the cost was too high,” he said at media press conference after the signing of contract between BDA and Wahon Glass & Aluminium Sdn. Bhd.
Mohidin assured that BDA and Wahon would ensure that the fence design would not affect business activities in the Pasar Utama Area.
