Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) poised to lose at least 20,000 of its members to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) a news report suggested.
Jimmy Donald said 17,000 people mostly PRS members who were previously aligned to Larry Sng’s faction had applied to joint Parti Keadilan Rakyat.
Another 3,000 will hand in their application to join PKR at a dinner expected to be attended Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, tonight.
“We feel that we have been sidelined and not needed by Barisan Nasional,” he said, reported Borneo Post, Friday. “After many meetings we chose to join PKR not only because it brings fresh ideas, but also because PKR multi-racialism similar to PRS.”
Jimmy Donald was reported to have held a meeting with several PRS divisional leaders from various part of Sarawak at his residence in Kuching yesterday.
However, Jimmy said “as acting ‘captain’ I should be the last one to jump ship” and would be submitting his application form at a later date.
Anwar scheduled to arrive in Kuching International Airport before 3.45pm on Friday. But according to former PKR liaison chief Dominique Ng the state government will likely to deny his entry.
“I received information from reliable sources that the state government will stop Anwar from entering Sarawak,” Ng said.
