Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) now allow qualified applicants to apply for various courses offered by the university online according to the its Registrar Abdullah Hj Mohd Said on Thursday. abdullah-ums-registrar

“Application now can be done online and all the applicants need to do is buy a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at the nearest Bank Simpanan Nasional that costs RM11 each,” Abdullah quoted as saying by New Sabah Times on Friday.

UMS which was setup on Nov 24, 1994 currently has 13 schools and offering some 60 courses in various disciplines including medicine, psychology, engineering, arts and commerce.

The university also has two schools at its international campus in Labuan. The university hoped to increase its enrollment of qualified Sabahans school leavers to pursue their higher education at UMS.

In another development,Abdullah said UMS was also in the process of recruiting more qualified staff to hold various academic and non-academic posts.

“At present,we have a total of 1,605 staff and over 600 of them are in the academic division while the rest are non-academic.

“The number of academic staff is quite sufficient but we plan to recruit more so as to be able to provide better service in that department,” Abdullah added.
