Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh said he accepted the Kuala Terengganu voters’ decision in choosing Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut from PAS as their representative in parliament.

He said although he was defeated when he did not receive enough votes to represent them, he thanked the people who had voted for BN in the by-election.

“Although I have not succeeded in this contest, I will work harder to ensure that those who did not vote for BN today, will choose BN in future,” he told reporters following his defeat in the by-election.

Appearing calm, Wan Ahmad Farid also thanked the local BN by-election machinery and from outside Terengganu which had campaigned hard for him.

He also congratulated Mohd Abdul Wahid in winning the by-election.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said, meanwhile, said the state BN accepted the defeat with an open heart and would continue to serve the people to the best of its ability.
