It’s not a cheerful Chinese New Year for Barisan Nasional, particularly for Najib – the Malaysia prime minister-elect.
He has been leading Barisan Nasional in two consecutive by-elections since March 2008 General Election and loss both in the hand of fragile alliance between DAP, Parti Keadilan and Pas.
He couldn’t have been so unlucky. The news of an elected Umno representatives defecting to Pakatan on the eve of Chinese New Year taken everybody by surprised.
Opposition leaders claimed there were others waiting on the sidelines after Bota assemblyman Datuk Nasarudin Hashim (pic) quit Umno to join PKR, part of the Pakatan Rakyat alliance. But Najib refute the rumor and insisted no Umno members or it elected representatives would defect to Pakatan.
These rumours were untrue, Najib said at the MCA Chinese New Year Open House at Wisma MCA on Monday.
