The Home Minister rather quick to point out that it was treason not to obey the Sultan order in the case of Perak. The Star reports:

Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin’s refusal to resign as mentri besar as directed by the Sultan of Perak is an act of treason, said Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.

He said Pakatan Rakyat had lost its majority in the state assembly and Sultan Azlan Shah had chosen to invite the Barisan Nasional to form the government instead of calling for a dissolution.

Did he forget what Barisan Nasional did in Terengganu was also amounting to treason, i.e, if Nizar committed treason – why not Abdullah for insisting on Idris Jusoh. Did he forget what Abdullah said as reported by Bernama here:?

The appointment of Kijal assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said as the new Menteri Besar of Terengganu is unconstitutional, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

“Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh (who was slated for the post) commands majority support (among the elected representatives). This has not changed.

“As such, the appointment of any other person to the post is unconstitutional,” Abdullah said when asked to comment on the action by 22 Terengganu Barisan Nasional assemblyman in the state who have protested Ahmad’s appointment to lead the state.

They even threatened to stripped poor Ahmad Said of his Umno membership for disobeying Abdullah.
