Sarawak state government flexed its muscle again, by refusing the entry to another Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) national vice-chairman R Sivarasa (pic).
Late last year, Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishan who said wanted to visit his adopted family in Kapit was also refused an entry.
Sivarasa who arrived at Kuching International Airport at 1.30pm said he was shocked to be shown a notice from the State Immigration Dept.
“This to serves to notify you that you are refused entry into the State of Sarawak for you do not belong to the State of Sarawak and are not entitled to enter the state without a Permit or a Pass by virtue of Section 66(1) of the Immigration Act, 1969/63,” the notice read.
Sivarasa said he had initially planned to fly to Miri on Saturday evening for a party matter.
“Last July, I was here with my wife on a holiday, enjoying the Rainforest Music Festival.” He said according to Borneo Post. “Now I’m prevented from entering Sarawak”.
The Subang MP said it was an apparent abuse of power as there were no reasons given and would take the matter to court.
However, he would unlikely to succeed as precedent already been set in Gobalakrishnan’s case which was rejected on Feb 4, by Judicial Commissioner Rozariah Bujang in the Chamber in Kuching.
