Prime minister Najib is under pressure from various group on who’s who he should include in his new cabinet line-up. The latest being from BN component party – Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA). MCA president Ong Tee Keat was quoted as saying:
“I have submitted a list of candidates based on the party hierarchy and their status in the Dewan Rakyat and Dewan Negara during my meeting with the Prime Minister on Monday.
“However, it is just our recommendation,” he told reporters after chairing the party’s presidential council meeting yesterday.
Earlier Mahathir also reported to have pressure Najib to include his son Mukhriz. Malaysian Insider said:
The intensity of Dr Mahathir’s attacks has given rise to speculation that he is actually angling for Najib to appoint Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir to the Cabinet.
Some political insiders believe that he has considerable influence over tomorrow’s line-up.
Today, he denied that he was brokering a deal for Mukhriz’s inclusion.
At a press conference, he said that he was not the sort of person who went to bat on behalf of his son.
But he continued to apply pressure on Najib not to appoint Khairy who was warned by Umno’s disciplinary board for alleged money politics.
“If he is appointed, it would bring bad omen to BN as he has already been found guilty of corruption (by the party disciplinary board),” he said.
Gerakan president Koh Tsu Koon on the other hand rebuke Najib by declining offer of Chinese Affairs portfolio.
However, if you just can’t wait for the announcement of Najib cabinet line-up expected to be later today – here is good piece.
