Miri was hit by unusually heavy downpour today, immediately creating a very chaotic situation in the resort city.

“Just now when I went down town, on the way saw two accidents, how dangerous and when I’m back, down pouring really make I can’t see the road in front” posted Chien at comment at Miri Community forum.

According to Bernama news report, flood waters at the city’s links to the northern part of Sarawak, including the dual-carriageway connecting Brunei, stood at 0.1 metre.

Motorists passing the stretch leading to the Pujut flyover said that the links were flooded and traffic along the path that formed Miri’s link to the north of Sarawak had almost came to a standstill.

Sarawak Assistant Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications Lee Kim Shin said the Miri City Council had deployed an engineering team to assess the situation, Bernama added.
