Sarawak, the state government today – in one voice said “let’s rewards our cronies, state first families’ companies” with whooping RM1.2 billion. Bernama reports:
Sarawak has waived the tender system for some of the projects to be implemented under the second economic stimulus package to expedite their completion, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said here.
The decision was adopted at a meeting of the state Cabinet held in Kuching yesterday, he told reporters after officiating at the Miri Indian community’s combined New Year celebration Thursday night.
He said the decision was made in meeting the two-year completion time frame for projects implemented under the package announced on March 10.
Najib, who is also the finance minister, had said when making the announcement that an allocation of RM1.2 billion of the total RM60 billion under the package was for Sabah and Sarawak.
Chan said much of the allocation for Sarawak would be used for the development of infrastructure projects.
Someone in the state government has a better idea of using that RM1.2 taxpayer monies don’t you think? State election 2010?
