Oops Jabu did it again. He’s labeling Dayak Ibans as having no useful habits but gambling, cock-fighting and drinking (boozing).
He told theborneopost:
“I always tell the Iban community that when their wives are pregnant, they should start saving money for their children and their education.
“But some Iban parents still believe in cock-fighting and will spend RM100 to RM1,000 on a bird (instead of spending on their children who need every chance at good education,” he said at Rurum Kelabit Sarawak (RKS) annual education excellence award here, Saturday night.
Jabu said he was happy to note that the Kelabits as well as the Lun Bawangs had long discarded drinking, unlike some Ibans who drank until they suffered from hangover and would be unproductive for up to two days.
Late last year he praises the Bidayuhs but took a swipe at the Ibans for not supporting and criticizing Salcra – his pet project.
“I’m very sad to say the Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) and Sarawak Dayak Iban Association (Sadia) are not giving any word of praises for Salcra’s success despite the fact that majority of its participants were from the Iban communities,” said Jabu who is also Salcra chairman.
Instead of commending and thanking Salcra for its efforts he said, Sadia had tried to disparage them by including representatives from the opposition and non-governmental organizations during their recent meeting.
