Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib apparently reluctance to rescue Barisan Nasional component party the People’s Progressive Party – particularly its president M Kayveas.

Najib being Barisan Nasional leader, by convention would be invited to its component party annual general metting (AGM). However, the prime minister reported to be reluctance to attend PPP AGM scheduled on June 7.

The Star said “he would check on the status of the People’s Progressive Party with the Registrar of Societies first before deciding whether he will attend the party’s annual general meeting (AGM)”.

News reports on Monday said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will meet Senator Datuk T. Murugiah and Datuk M. Kayveas on Tuesday.

Muhyiddin said he wanted to know the real story on the problems faced by the party and the real status of the PPP so that immediate action could be taken to prevent the problem from becoming more serious and affecting the image of the Barisan Nasional.

PPP one of the smallest party within the Barisan Nasional family last Sunday elected Murugiah at an extraordinary general meeting although he was expelled from the party recently.

To make it worst, PPP current president Kayveas has told Murugiah to form his own party.
