Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak expressed Malaysia’s deep sorrow and offered condolences to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono over Wednesday’s earthquake in Indonesia.
“Actually I and the people of Malaysia also felt the sorrow of the people of Indonesia for the loss of so many lives, human injuries and material loss incurred in the tragedy,” Najib said in his letter to President Yudhoyono, Bernama reported Friday.
Najib said he felt very sad that the tragedy occurred in the current holy fasting month of Ramadhan. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of President Susilo, the people of Indonesia would be able to overcome the impact of the catastrophe and rebuild its economy in the shortest possible time.
The prime minister also praised those who have helped and brought relief to the suffering of all the quake victims.
