The drama surrounding Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) heightened with news report suggesting Bintulu Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and others had conspired to ‘harm’ the turnkey project.
“Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing and others have been named as “conspirators” who harmed PKFZ” reports Malaysia Insider, quoting it source.
The online news portal also said former Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy has been singled out for breach of duty to the Cabinet.
PKFZ project initially projected to cost less than RM2 billion, then rescued with RM4.6 billion via government soft loan in 2007. But according to an audit report, the whole project could end up costing as much as RM12 billion.
The Malaysian Insider has learnt the report claims breaches in duties, including by the former minister, and a possible conspiracy between external contractors and insiders to harm the Port Klang Authority (PKA), the developer of the PKFZ.
