Sarawak chief minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud said the state government is planning to build three new townships between Miri and Bintulu.

Taib said the new township projects were part of state government efforts to transform the coastal area under the second wave of its ‘politics of development’ agenda.

“Government has planned to setup new township in Nyalau, Bintulu, which is within the Samalaju (Simalajau) industrial zone,” he said.

Apart from Nyalau, the Sarawak Chief Minister said, Batu Niah and Bekenu will also be developed into vibrant township within the next 10 years.

The chief minister made a brief visit to Niah yesterday to officiate the opening of Masjid Al – Jabbar.
