There has been a proposal to build pedestrian bridge linking the recently completed State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex to Kuching Waterfront across the Sarawak River.

The proposed bridge will be designed by a renowned Malaysian architect, Hijas Kasturi, who also the designer of the new DUN complex, would allow visitors to savour the real beauty of the city.

It would also link the city’s major historical sites, including the proposed Plaza Merdeka, which would be completed in 2012.

“I understand that the project (bridge) is still at the proposal stage,” said Plaza Merdeka Holdings Managing Director Steve Ng at a press conference in Kuching on Tuesday.
