News report indicated as many as 5,000 PAS supporters gathered outside the Kelantan PAS headquarters in Kota Bahru this morning in show of support to Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
Nik Aziz has been under pressure from various groups to quit or name a successor after his ‘son in-law fiasco’.
Earlier this month a Kelantanese blogger Syed Azidi Syed Aziz and former PMBK corporate liaison officer alleged that the appointment of Ariffahmi as PMBK CEO as ‘conflict of interest’.
Syed Azidi Syed Aziz also accused pilgrimage that Mr Nik Aziz, Mr Ariffahmi and their spouses had been planning to make would be financed by a wealthy businessman who had dealings with the state agency. The trip, too, was eventually aborted.
Friday gathering, organised by various NGOs was attended by state government leaders including executive councillor Datuk Husam Musa.
Husam, in his speech, defended Nik Aziz’s action in seeking God’s assistance for the state to receive its oil royalty payment.
“We were mistreated when the oil royalty payment was denied; in Islam under these circumstances we are encouraged to pray,” said Husam.
The gathering dispersed after handing a memorandum in support of Nik Aziz to the Kelantan mentri besar.
They also expressed their support for the state government’s demand for the oil royalty payment.
Last Tuesday, some 200-odds mostly UMNO supporters gathered near Wisma Darul Naim, demanded Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Nik Aziz to step down.
