Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) is a seasonal party that pose no threat to Sarawak Barisan Nasional said Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg on the expansion of the Penang-based party to Sarawak as reported by media on Friday.
Johari said there have been number of political parties setup in the state, but none lasted as long as BN.
“A number of political parties have been opened in Sarawak, however only Barisan Nasional that still survive,” Johari said, state Malay language daily Utusan Borneo reported.
The people according to Johari need a strong party. He likened PCM to a durian season, that come and go according to its season.
“Whenever election season is near, a lot of parties exist, but when the election over they closed,” he said.
“It is seasonal, just like the durian season.”
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) deputy president said he didn’t know if PCM really love Malaysia, as the party is based in Penang.
On Friday, PCM announced that it had appointed former PKR assemblyman Gabriel Adit Demong as it state chairman. The party claimed to have more than 5,000 members in the country and were supported by several BN members. It will be officially launched Feb 2010.
