The state National Registration Department has estimated that more than 30,000 Sarawakians are still undocumented.

They were not registered when they were born and they do not have their MyKad.

Deputy Home Minister Jelaing Mersat said the department planned to get all these people documented by 2011.

The ministry has set two targets for two categories, to be met in the next two years, he added.

In the first category, the department aims to get those with birth certificates to get their MyKad by the end of this year, while undocumented but eligible residents to have both their identification documents by Dec 2011.
