The Election Commission (EC) has identified 437,369 people above the age of 21 in Sarawak who have yet to register as voters.
Hence, in order to lure them to register as voters, Sarawak EC deputy director Wan Fadillah Wan Ahmad said the commission would take a proactive measure to hold its Customer Day in several locations statewide soon, starting with Miri.
He said the EC Customer Day in Miri would be held this weekend (Jan 30 and 31) at the Boulevard Mall, from 11am to 8pm and at the Pasar Tamu Miri from 8am to 11am.
“Those who wish to register as voters or apply for a change of address and polling centre can do so then,” he said in a statement here.
After Miri, he said, the EC Customer Day would be held in Sibu and here before the launch of the massive state-level voter registration campaign, scheduled for May 9.
EC Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof is expected to launch the campaign at the Kuching Waterfront.
