The deadline for the next state polls is still 14 months away, but Sarawak’s political calendar is already packed.
A source told The Star that the state government was preparing programmes for the visit of at least one federal minister every month.
“A meeting was held recently among the top brass of several key government departments. They were told that from now onwards, at least one federal minister will be coming to visit Sarawak each month,” he said.
“These ministers are expected to announce the implementation of key projects in the state, besides announcing allocations for the completion of outstanding projects especially in the rural constituencies,” said a source who attended the meeting.
