More than 1000 people attended PKR Pre-Gawai cum fund raising dinner held last night at a restaurant in Medan Central according to the party source.

PKR de-facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah who couldn’t make it to the dinner was represented by PKR strategic director Tian Chua.

“PKR de-facto leader and president Anwar and Wan Azizah would like to extend their sincerest apology. Anwar is currently overseas while Wan Azizah attending party matters in Hulu Selangor,” said Tian Chua who is also Batu MP.

Tian Chua noted BN scaring tactics which deeply embedded in Sarawak then had slowly eroded.

“When we started few years back, only five tables were filled because people were scared,” Tian Chua said.

“The Chinese scares their contracts might be terminated or will not be awarded any.

“The Ibans and Malays scared they might not get land grants or being chased out of their lands.

Tian Chua said people eventually realize, despite being loyal to Barisan Nasional – it made no different as many still losing their lands, contracts and business opportunities.

“That’s why we should rise up, be brave and sit here (at the dinner). Let’s the reporters take photos and see who’s going to lose their contract tomorrow.”

“I can assure you – you’ll not lose it,” he said and gave Hulu Selangor as an example.

The people of Hulu Selangor gave us a chance in previous election. In an attempt to re-took the constituency, BN pour in millions of ringgit into Hulu Selangor to win the people’s heart.

“They spent more than RM160 millions in recent by-election alone,” he said and added “This is a democratic country”.

“When there is a political competition – parties competing to govern, that when the people’s rights guaranteed.

PKR Bintulu branch chief Paul Raja described the dinner as very successful.
