State Housing and Urban Development Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg announced RM3.8 million infrastructure project for Kampung Nangka ahead of Sibu by-election on March 16.
According The Star, Abang Johari said “there is already RM2 million worth of upgrading works going on at villages in Nangka. These include drainage and road works,”.
However the Borneo Post report said a total of RM3.8 million worth of projects for Nangka – RM1.8 million for drainage another RM2 million for road works.
In 2008 General Election despite minor protest votes in certain Malay villages – Barisan Nasional still secured nearly 80 percent of the Malay / Melanau votes.
