Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) to install surveillance cameras at various public parks ‘icons of Bintulu’ to ensure public safety and security when visiting these places.
BDA General Manager Datu Mohidin Ishak said for a start what they will do was to record what happen at these public parks.
“It can be a prove of what’s happening at these parks, but for a start we will just record and public cannot expect us to catch offenders in real-time,” he said at a press conference in Bintulu today.
According to Mohidin the installation was still underway and all the CCTVs will be wirelessly connected to the control center.
He said BDA wanted people who visited public parks in Bintulu feel secure and safe.
“People visiting these parks are not only from Bintulu as there are visitors from Miri, Sibu, Kuching and other countries. We want them to feel safe,” Mohidin said.
BDA objectives he said were to make these public facilities become the premier places for social integration, green lung and sustainable urban recreational areas.
He said BDA hope the public can do their part to maintain these places.
“By all means enjoy yourself, but please also for example help keep these areas clean. Don’t throw rubbish indiscriminately, or destroy the trees, flowers,” Mohidin said.
Mohidin said BDA had established a special team under its Landscape Department to properly maintained these public parks.
