Sibu police arrested a woman who allegedly abused her Indonesian maid by beating and starving her on Friday according to online media reports.
The maid identified as Sulastri, 21 was found suffering from multiple injuries on her head, body and face. She was also found dehydrated, believed to have been starved for days by her employer and was rush to Sibu Hospital for immediate medical attention by the police.
Police said they were acting on a public tip-off when they found the maid at a spare parts shoplot in Sungai Merah town.
They have to force their way into the shoplot after being denied entry by the spare parts shop-owner.
Sibu deputy OCPD Supt Zamani Hamdan said police had arrested the 36-year old woman shop-owner and was looking for the husband.
The victim who had been in Sibu for the past three months reported to have entered and work in Sarawak illegally from Indonesia.
