PETALING JAYA: Islam does not allow a jihad or crusade to be launched against something uncertain and slanderous, said PAS central working committee member Datuk Husam Musa.
He said the recent claims of a plot to make Christianity the official religion of the country fell into such a category.
Husam said Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali should not misuse the word jihad on something that was uncertain.
“Using racial and religious issues for political interest shows that Perkasa is not upholding the true teachings of Islam.
“They are not fit to raise the issue of jihad, which must be pure and clean,” he said yesterday.
Husam was commenting on reports quoting the Malay rights group leader as saying that he would wage a crusade against Christians if they continued to challenge Islam’s position in the country.
Husam said if Perkasa truly wanted to strengthen Islam, it must promote policies and practices that were fair and good as preached by the religion. — The Star
