Kapitan Tan Boon Ting said government must intensified its efforts to fight corruptions that have drained billions out of the country coffer and cut unnecessary government expenditures rather than channeling the financial burden to the people.

“If the government is determined enough to wipe out corruption, we, the rakyat, would not have to suffer all sorts of subsidy cuts,” he said.

“Given our rich natural resources of oil and all that, how could we not be kept on par with the development in neighbouring countries like Singapore?

“It is unfair for the government to put the people through what can actually be averted,” he told the Borneo Post.
