Jelintan Gelanggang - showing tapioca leaf she no longer dare to eat fearing contamination.

The aluminium smelting plant at Balingian, Mukah instead of a blessing has become source of irritant to longhouse folks living near the plant.

One of them is Jelintan ak Gelanggang – of Rh. Bansan who related her daily ordeal living less than 5-km from the plant to BO.

“Now I no longer can eat vegetable I grow near my longhouse, or eating the mango fruit in front of the house – for fear it might have been contaminated,” she said.

“The rainwater that we used to cook and bath now make us itchy. It never been like that before the plant was there.
