Off-roading enthusiasts will be converging on this town early next month for the Bintulu International 4X4 Extreme Challenge 2011.
This is the third such event being held in Bintulu and the organiser Bintulu 4X4 Skill and Adventure said it expected at least 60 participants from all over Sarawak, Brunei, Kalimantan and Sabah from July 1 to 3.
“This is not only about extreme driving and sports but also an effort to help Bintulu Salvation Army Chapter raise funds for its activities,” said the event director Chien Jay Yew.
There are two categories: Category A is for 4WD vehicles with an engine capacity of 2000cc and below, and Category B – no engine capacity requirement.
Chien said participants would compete based on their skills of handling 4WDs on rugged terrains.
“They will be judged on how fast they can complete the 10 obstacle course from start to finish line.
Entry fee is RM300.
The organiser is appealing for more sponsorships and those interested to chip in or take part in the challenge can contact Chien at 019 – 814 1966, Wong Kee Meng (016 – 558 6096) and Ting Tiw Chiew (012 – 805 5580).
