Electronic horse racing dens continue to haun this town despite the numerous raids to clamp down on them, says Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
He sai the people are increasingly unhappy with the enforcement agencies for not solving the problem.
“People call me and say how could they pretend nothing is wrong when these things happening right in front of their eyes,” Tiong Said.
He said it was not entirely true that the police did not take any action because he believed that these illegal gambling activities were making a comeback.
After all, it was already more than a year since the last major oepration by the authorities, he said.
Tiong said some parents had reported to him that their children were being forced to steal to pay for their illegal gambling debts.
“Perhaps the Bintulu Development Authorities should do something, maybe close down these gambling premises,” he said.
Tiong said overall, he was satisfied with the efforts of police here in combating crime but urged them to do more.
“We want Bintulu continue to be safe, secure place for people to live and work,” he added.
