Congratulations to the organisers (Resident Office, BDA, Bintulu Cycling Club) of Borneo Mountain Bike Challenge 2011.

This year event drew a much larger talents and participations.

National cyclists like Masziyaton Mohd Radzi of Kedah and Sarawak’s Junaidah Juss were exciting to watch and so were Shahrin, Mohd Fauzan.

Masziyaton and Junaidah were simply a class of their own – dominated the MTB Women’s Open from the go to the finish line.

Brunei, although sending a slightly smaller team – six persons managed to steal second place despite competing against several MSNS athletes for the MTB Men Under 18 category and third place in the Men’s Open.

In the very competitive MTB Men’s Open won by national cyclist Shahrin Amir, second place Mohd Fauzan Ahmad Lufti also a national cyclist with PDRM team – they slot in a surprising third place through Muhamad Raihan Abd Aziz.

The only consolation for the organizer, Bintulu Cycling team was Alexi Disi grabbing third place in the MTB Men Under 18 Open.

Although it was a success, the organizer could have done a lot more to attract crowd. Blocking both entrances to Tanjung Batu throughout the two-day event – could have been the reason there were only a small crowd gathered in the areas.

Along the jungle trail – the organizer could have provide several spots for people to watch the action.

They could have cleared the bushes to provide smooth movement along the trail.

A piece of good news to local mountain biking enthusiasts – Datuk Mohidin Ishak, BDA GM promise a bigger allocation for next year event. Looking forward to that too.
