KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy), the state’s electricity provider, has appointed Limbang-born Marconi Madai, to the position of General Manager, Corporate Risk & Health, Safety and Environment (HSE).

Marconi, a Bisaya, has a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, the United States.

Sarawak Energy in a statement here today said he has also absorbed best practices through a host of vocational courses spanning the globe during his 15-year career.

Marconi said Sarawak Energy’s growth and hunger to evolve as well as enhance its core human resources pool, has made it possible for him to return home, while still enjoying his specialist career path.

Commenting on Marconi’s appointment, Sarawak Energy’s Chief Executive Officer Torstein Dale Sjtveit said he had a proven track record and solid international experience in the operations, business development, risk and safety sector.

“Marconi would be a huge asset to Sarawak Energy as his credentials make him a very sought after management person, not just in Malaysia but on an international level,” he added.

Sarawak Energy Bhd is a holding company, 100 per cent owned by the Sarawak government, providing electricity to more than 500,000 customers in the state.
