Indonesian forward Titus Bonai, who struck the winner in his side’s 2-0 semi-final win over Vietnam, said Sunday the hosts will have to be on their guard against a dangerous Malaysia in the football final.

Bonai, whose late deflected strike secured victory over Vietnam, said the defending champions had already proved they are capable of upsetting Indonesia with a 0-1 win over the hosts in the group stage.

“The Malaysian team is very strong — we lost to them the other day. What we need to do is stay on guard and work tight as a team,” he told AFP.

Indonesia will be determined to take the under-23 football gold on Monday night in front of an expected sell-out 90,000 home crowd and deny their arch-rivals the chance to take their second SEA Games title in a row.
