Teluk Intan member of parliament Seah Leong Peng, 48 died of cancer this morning said the Star reports today.

The first term Democratic Action Party MP Seah won the Teluk Intan seat in the 2013 general election after defeating Gerakan chairman Datuk Mah Siew Keong by 7,313 votes in a three-cornered fight.

He polled 27,399 votes while Mah received 20,086 votes while independent K. Moralingam managed 279 votes.

It said the party’s acting chairman, Tan Kok Wai, confirmed it and said a statement would be issued soon.

Seah died of bladder cancer at the University of Malaya Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur at 7.45am.
