A baby born in China with four legs and four arms has had surgery to remove the extra limbs.
The infant, born in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, is reportedly in a stable condition following the surgery on April 11 at the Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center.
The boy was born joined at the torso to a headless parasitic twin.
“They were supposed to be twins, but one had underdeveloped and became deformed,” chief surgeon Yu Jiakang told the Global Times.
The child, 10 days old at the time of surgery, was also diagnosed with pneumonia and congenital heart disease before the operation.
