Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin had to console Malaysia Thomas Cup’s skipper Daren Liew after being defeated by Ueda of Japan.

Malaysia’s Thomas Cup skipper Daren Liew couldn’t hold back his emotion and had to be consoled by Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy at Siri Fort Indoor Stadium, Delhi.

The 14-years wait for the return of Thomas Cup to Kuala Lumpur was shouldered on Liew after Malaysia’s leading doubles Hoon Thien How and Tan Boon Heong lost to Japan’s Kenichi Hayakawa and Hiroyuki Endo.

Another Malaysian single’s Chong Wei Feng lost to Kento Momota in a straight set 15-21, 17-21. Our hopes kept alive by second doubles of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong who defeated Takeshi Kamura and Keigo Sonoda.
