A car parked on the arrival lane, near gate 1 of Kuching International Airport suddenly ignited last night. According to Tabuan Jaya Fire and Rescue Department they despatched 9 fire-fighters to the scene.
When they arrived the car already engulfed by flames and it took them 13 minutes to put it off. Does it possible for a car left idle and the engine running for tool long to catch flame?
Probably. US Home Office Statistical Bulletin on vehicle fires shows overheating (under 1%) as one of the causes. The most common causes of vehicle fires were deliberate/possibly deliberate ignition (34%), vehicle wiring (19%).
No one was injured in the incident at the KIA and Fire & Rescue Department still investigating the case.
